The flight deck is seething with activity. The catapult is armed, and pilot and navigator direct all their attention to takeoff procedures. There is no room for error. In just seconds they will be launched from the deck, enroute to accomplish their mission, pushing their aircraft to speeds exceeding Mach 1.
